Brain Cake

As our daughters head back to school this month, we'd like to highlight an alarming trend. The number of women earning undergraduate degrees in computer science has plunged nearly 50 percent since 1985, according to the National Center for Women and Information Technology. Women hold more than half of professional positions in the overall U.S. work force but fewer than 22 percent of software engineering jobs. Braincake, a program of Carnegie Science Center, has a mission to engage, educate and embrace girls as architects of change.
